Princess Cruises Cruises

Princess is the middle-of-the-road big-ship line in the best sense: traditional dining rooms, a relaxed pace, strong Alaska and world itineraries, and ships that are busy without feeling like a theme park. It suits couples, multigenerational families and anyone who wants a classic cruise without a dress-up obsession or a waterpark.

Every Princess ship runs MedallionClass, a wearable token that unlocks your cabin and lets you order food and drinks to wherever you are through the app. As of 2026, the daily Crew Appreciation is $18 per person in interior, oceanview and balcony cabins, $19 in mini-suites, cabanas and Reserve Collection, and $20 in suites. Most people compare that with the two bundles. Princess Plus ($65 per person per day pre-cruise for 2026 sailings, $70 on board) covers up to 15 drinks a day priced up to $15 each, one-device Wi-Fi, four casual-dining meals and crew appreciation. Princess Premier ($100 pre-cruise, $105 on board) moves to unlimited drinks up to $20, unlimited specialty dining, four-device Wi-Fi, up to $300 in excursion credit and photos. Both cost $5 a day more on Sun Princess and Star Princess.

Formal nights are called Dress to Impress - one on shorter sailings, two or more on longer ones - when dark suits, dinner jackets, cocktail dresses and gowns are the suggested look. Camp Discovery splits kids into The Treehouse for ages 3-7, The Lodge for 8-12 and The Beach House for teens 13-17.

Holland America is the nearest comparison and draws a slightly older, quieter crowd; Celebrity is more design-led and a little more expensive at the base fare. Against Royal Caribbean or Carnival, Princess gives up the thrill attractions in exchange for calmer ships and longer, more port-heavy routes.
