Check which dollar is on the tag
The Cayman dollar has been fixed at US$1.20 since 1974, and shops and menus here price in either currency. A tag that looks reasonable in US dollars is 20 percent more if it is actually in Cayman dollars. Ask which currency before you pay.
Seven Mile Beach by public bus
Grand Cayman's public buses are 12- to 17-seat vans marked "PUBLIC BUS" front and back, and they are the cheap way to the beach. Route 1 (yellow) runs along Seven Mile Beach toward West Bay; Route 2 (green) also serves the northwest. Catch one on Harbour Drive or Church Street near the tender landing, or walk about four minutes to the depot.
Fares are a few dollars and cash only - drivers take US or Cayman dollars but carry little change, so bring small bills. On a tender day, remember the return trip also has to beat the queue for the last tenders back to the ship.
