Buy a pass before the first bus
Bermuda's buses take cash only as exact change in coins - dollar bills are not accepted, and the drivers are forbidden from making change. For a two- or three-night stay alongside, a transportation pass is simpler. As of July 2026 the government lists a 1-day pass at $19, 2-day $31.50, 3-day $44 and 7-day $62 for adults, valid on both buses and ferries; children 5-16 pay about half.
The Visitor Information Centre at Dockyard sells passes and tokens, or you can load them on the Shorelink app. Single fares without a pass are $3.50 for a short trip and $5 across the island.
Blue ferry to Hamilton, Orange to St. George's
Two ferry routes leave from Dockyard. The Blue route runs to Hamilton. The Orange route only operates in the summer season, April to October, and continues from Dockyard to the Town of St. George's at the far east end - the way to reach the old town without spending the day on a bus.
Taxis are metered and can be booked through the Ride.bm or Hitch apps. In 2026 the meter starts at $9.20 for the first mile for one to four passengers, so the cost per head drops sharply if a group shares a cab to the south shore.
