Star Breeze - Flowers of the South Pacific: Tahiti to Fiji

4.5(148 reviews)
via Cruise Critic · Jun 2026
|15 Nights|8 Ports|6 Sea Days

A 15-night island-hopping crossing from Papeete to Lautoka aboard Windstar's 312-guest all-suite yacht, linking French Polynesia with the rarely cruised Cook Islands, Tonga, and Fiji. Tender calls at Aitutaki and Rarotonga and a finish among Fiji's garden islands make this a route big ships simply cannot do.

About the Ship

What Travelers Say About Star Breeze

Reviews of the ship itself — the same for every Star Breeze sailing. Based on 600 discussions.

Star Breeze is Windstar's small, all-suite luxury yacht - 312 guests on a 1989 ex-Seabourn hull that was literally cut in half and 'stretched' in 2020 to add 50 balcony suites, a larger pool and hot tub, expanded sun decks, a bigger spa, and two new restaurants. The vibe is calm, refined and unhurried: no crowds, no announcements, no dress code, and a crew-to-guest ratio that lets staff learn your name fast. Now based year-round in French Polynesia, it leans hard into destination immersion with long port days in Tahiti, Bora Bora and Moorea and an aft marina you can swim and kayak right off of.

What People Love

  • Genuinely warm, attentive service - staff learn your name and drink preferences by the second day, repeatedly cited as the single best thing about the ship
  • Ultra-intimate 312-passenger scale means no crowds, no buffet scrums, and longer, later port stays than mega-ships can offer
  • Excellent destination-inspired food across five venues, plus a James Beard Foundation partnership and complimentary tapas (Cuadro 44) and steakhouse dining at no upcharge

Common Complaints

  • Recurring HVAC/air-conditioning complaints - multiple guests report cabins and dining rooms running uncomfortably hot, with some losing sleep over it
  • Thin entertainment program - limited nighttime shows and no headliner performers, so evenings are quiet and lounge-focused
  • The added Star Balcony Suites have extremely narrow French balconies (roughly 1 ft deep) that are not usable for sitting outside
