Norwegian Encore

Norwegian Encore is a 2019-built, 2024-refurbished Breakaway-Plus megaship for roughly 4,000 guests, with an energetic, activity-packed, slightly party-leaning vibe. Its calling card is the largest go-kart racetrack at sea, backed by two waterslides, open-air laser tag, and the Galaxy Pavilion VR arcade — there's always something to do regardless of weather. The 2024 refit gave it a modern, upscale look across cabins and public spaces.

Entertainment is the genuine high point, with Choir of Man and Kinky Boots routinely ranked among the best shows at sea and strong live music in the atrium. Specialty dining shines (Onda by Scarpetta is a favorite), but it costs extra and adds up, while the main dining rooms and buffet are hit-or-miss and now carry a $5 extra-entrée fee. Refreshed cabins and the Haven suite area earn praise, though the pool deck is cramped and service can feel stretched during busy stretches.

Encore is best for families, multigenerational groups, thrill-seekers, and solo travelers (thanks to its studio cabins) who are happy to pay for premium activities and lean on the More at Sea bundle for value. Versus near-identical sister Norwegian Joy, Encore offers more dining venues, solo studios, and a faster, longer go-kart track, while Joy includes more dining in its base fare for budget cruisers. Against Royal Caribbean's Oasis- and Quantum-class ships, Encore packs comparable activity density at often lower fares but with more à la carte add-on charges. Standout activities are the Speedway go-karts, the Aqua Racer and Ocean Loops slides, laser tag, and the Galaxy Pavilion.
