Norwegian Aqua debuted in March 2025 as the first ship in NCL's new Prima-Plus class - stretched 75 feet longer than the Prima and Viva to create a noticeably more spacious layout. Its headline feature is the Aqua Slidecoaster, billed as the world's first hybrid waterslide-rollercoaster at sea, with dueling two-person slides that launch riders uphill before winding down. Paired with the Glow Court - an LED-floored, augmented-reality sports court by day that flips into a blacklight dance party at night - the Aqua is squarely aimed at families, couples and multigenerational groups who want a cutting-edge, tech-forward cruise. Despite its newness it has already drawn a strong early reputation.

The onboard experience centers on modern dining and design. The Indulge Food Hall offers ten complimentary venues from noodles to Indian to BBQ, plus NCL's first plant-based eatery, Planterie, and a new Thai specialty restaurant, Sukhothai. Cabins impress reviewers with the largest standard bathrooms in the fleet and smart storage, and because the Aqua dropped the go-kart track of its sister ships, the main pool is larger and quieter. The recurring criticism is capacity-related: the buffet is repeatedly described as too small and crowded for the ship's size, some Prima-class spaces feel cramped at peak times, and a few guests noted thin cabin sound insulation on an otherwise polished new build.

Norwegian Aqua is best for thrill-seekers and families who want the newest hardware at sea - the Slidecoaster and Glow Court are real differentiators - and for travelers who prioritize roomy, contemporary cabins and varied complimentary dining. It commands premium, newest-ship pricing, so value-focused cruisers or those who hate buffet crowds may weigh that carefully. But for guests wanting a modern, high-energy NCL experience with standout attractions, the Aqua delivers far more excitement than older Jewel-class ships like the Pearl.
