Costa Toscana is a large, modern LNG-powered ship and sister to Costa Smeralda, carrying roughly 6,600 passengers with a lively, family-friendly and distinctly Italian feel. The vibe is energetic Mediterranean resort - themed venues, late-night programming and a signature White Night party - and the guest mix is overwhelmingly Italian and broader European. That nationality and language mix is the single biggest factor for Americans and Brits to weigh, since English is a minority language onboard and many shows and announcements are in Italian.

Food is a two-tier reality: the included buffet and main dining are widely called average and often served cold, while the specialty restaurants are much better, with a roughly 110-euro three-night gourmet package frequently recommended as worth it. Service is mixed - friendly but understaffed for the passenger volume - and entertainment is hampered by obstructed theater seating that forces early arrival. On price it sits in the affordable mainstream-European tier alongside MSC and its direct competitor sister Costa Smeralda, cheaper and more Euro-centric than Royal Caribbean's Europe sailings. Note that many extras add up: thermal suite and Wi-Fi fees, daily gratuities and no free water with meals can make a cheap-looking fare more expensive than it first appears. Ratings data is thin and the two main aggregators disagree (U.S. News 3.7/5 from 22 reviews versus a much lower Cruise Critic member score), so confidence in any single number is low.
