The Manhattan Cruise Terminal occupies Piers 88 and 90 off Twelfth Avenue in the West 50s, a 1930s finger-pier arrangement with rooftop parking and Midtown at the end of the block. Brooklyn's terminal in Red Hook is calmer and roomier but further from a subway. Either way the ship must clear the Verrazzano-Narrows Bridge, which rules out the largest ships afloat.

   Manhattan berths at Piers 88 and 90 (West 46th to 54th Streets) with drop-off on Twelfth Avenue, while Brooklyn Cruise Terminal is in Red Hook; reckon 45-60 minutes from JFK or Newark and 30-45 from LaGuardia, all of it hostage to traffic.

   Grand Turk

   Grand Turk is seven miles of scrub and old salt ponds with a resident population smaller than the ship calling on it. Carnival's cruise center is a self-contained beach compound — pool, bar, Margaritaville — with good sand at the pier and a wall that drops into deep water a few hundred yards offshore. Cockburn Town, the actual settlement, is quiet, weathered and a short taxi away.

   Little San Salvador Island is owned by Carnival Corporation and called on by Holland America, Carnival and Princess ships. It has long been the best-regarded of the private beaches - a two-mile crescent of pale sand with very little built on it - and it is now being expanded and rebranded RelaxAway, with a pier that finally ended decades of tendering in 2026. The barbecue lunch is included; cabanas and horseback riding are not.

   Carnival's own destination on the south shore of Grand Bahama, open since July 2025 and exclusive to its ships. It is laid out as five zones: Paradise Plaza at the arrival end, family-focused Starfish Lagoon, the bar-and-DJ Calypso Lagoon, the Lokono Cove craft market, and Pearl Cove Beach Club. Beach and lagoon access are included with your fare; food, drinks, cabanas and Pearl Cove are all extra.
